Of Felines & Farewells

The poorly-sealed cracks on the cat statue glow. There’s a flash of white light before a translucent Siamese cat phases out of the cat statue and lands soundlessly onto the floor of the boutique.
Mao stretches, then looks up at her boss and sticks her tongue out.
“Mao!” The boutique owner ducks behind the counter to scowl at the spirit cat. “You know you can’t come out of the statue while it’s still daylight!” she hisses.

Prompt: An old object in a store contains a spirit that has finally escaped.

What secrets has it carried through the years? 

It could be a vintage shirt, a piece of furniture. A fruit.
